Sarah Farash, LMSW, PhD
CERTIFIED MINDFULNESS MEDITATION INSTRUCTOR
I am delighted to offer Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation workshops at the Aligned Collective.
As a parent of young children, coworker, partner, friend, sibling, daughter, classically trained pianist transitioning to jazz, social work instructor, public health researcher, 1st and 2nd generation descendent of Middle Eastern and Eastern European lineages, etc., one thing has become clear - resting in the present moment with an open heart is probably the most robust skillful means I have to offer in this lifetime.
Mindfulness meditation, or shamatha (calm abiding) - vipashyana (clear seeing) is the practice of resting the mind in the present moment and seeing what arises without bias or judgement. The practice of mindfulness meditation involves our posture, our natural breath, and our mind. The practice I am trained to teach is about 2,500 years old with origins in the Buddhist tradition.
I have 25+ years of meditation study and practice in the Shambhala and Kaygu Buddhist lineages and am certified as a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher through Dharma Moon & Tibet House’s 100 hour Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification program. You can learn more about the training program by clicking here.
I offer monthly Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation workshops at the Aligned Collective. I am also available to travel to your workplace, organization, or community gathering to offer beginner or refresher mindfulness meditation instruction.
If you are breathing and you have a body - I’m here for you as a resource to try out the practice of mindfulness meditation. No bodies are turned away. All of you, including the river of your thoughts, wild landscape of your emotions, and your stories and perceptions are welcome here. Join me in cultivating steadfastness, adaptability, and clarity amidst the ocean of ups and downs in our everyday lives.
